Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your music magazine and why?

I think that the magazine institution IPC may publish my magazine. I feel that the style of my magazine will fit in with their portfolio. They already deal with music magazines such as NME which focuses on new music, I think mine will be a good edition to the company as it deals with new music but different genres to NME. My target audience is teens - people in their twenties which is the same as most magazines under the IPC publishing. I think that my magazine will be different for the company and it is good to show contrast as it focuses on urban culture and music. There is definitely a gap in the market for my magazine because in the UK we do not have many easy to access and affordable magazines for this genre of music.

Another institution that I think might distribute my magazine is Bauer Media, they publish magazines like Kerrang, FHM and closer. A few of the magazines may appeal to teenage audiences but I don't think that many do and it is important for companies to keep their target audience vast to create maximum profit. I think that once again my magazine will be a unique edition to this company but will fit in.

I do not think that Future PLC will distribute my magazine. Many of their magazines are targeted at more older audiences such as 'Cross stitcher, The Knitter and Simply Knitting' so my magazine will be very unsuitable for this company.

This is the type of publication Future PLC deal with
